Thomas Griffin, Ph.D.AVP, Learning & Development
As a seasoned corporate executive, Tom Griffin has a proven record of accomplishments derived from more than twenty-five years of experience leading talent management and development strategies and initiatives that have enhanced organizational learning and significantly contributed to the achievement of critical corporate goals.
Tom is known for providing strong leadership and innovation in developing comprehensive leadership development systems and programs, and for creating a strategic leadership brand where alignment, consistency and modeling are required for success.
Tom currently serves as AVP, Learning & Development for Frontier Communications. In this role he is responsible for applying a broad range of Leadership and Organizational Development methodologies to diagnose and address human capital issues within Frontier.
Tom is an adjunct faculty member at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology teaching Leadership & Ethics. He also previously served as a Strategic Partner for The Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership in Indianapolis and The Center for Values-Driven Leadership at Benedictine University.
Prior to that Tom worked at Sears Holding as Director, Organizational Change Management for the Information & Technology Group for Sears Holdings Corporation. In this role he was responsible for developing organization-wide Communication, Change Management and Learning Development strategy across the Information and Technology Group with respect to business transformation initiatives.
While at U.S. Cellular from 2000-2010 in a corporate leadership and organizational development role, assuming responsibility for cultivating an effective leadership team, instituting succession planning and performance management systems, and promoting a culture of organizational excellence. In his last assignment there, Tom served as Vice President Organizational Learning & Chief Teaching Officer directing the design and execution of the company-wide learning and organization development strategy, Tom ensured that associates and leaders at all levels were provided with the training, education and developmental experiences needed to deliver the ideal customer experience and build a corporate culture of sustainable excellence.
Prior to joining U.S. Cellular, Griffin held a variety of positions focused on leadership and organizational development, including Associate Director of Organizational Learning & Development with the SBC/Ameritech organization, where he provided the leadership and organization development tools and processes that enhanced associate engagement and built individual and organizational capability. His early career included a variety of positions in leadership and quality development, and high performance organizational development with the global semiconductor and computer technology leader, Texas Instruments. Tom also served as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Fitchburg State University; a Master's degrees in general business and management of engineering technology from Amber University; a Master's degree in organization development & change management from the University of Texas at Dallas; and a doctorate in organization development from Benedictine University.
He is a published author, frequent conference speaker, and awards recipient for his work in the field of organizational learning and leadership development.
Tom and his wife currently reside in Algonquin, Ill.
